Project Description

Dover Jetty Demolition & Reconstruction

The Project

Marine and Safety Tasmania funded the demolition and re-construction of parts of the public jetty at Dover.  The jetty, which is very popular with local fishermen and tourists, has reached the end of its design life.

JMG were engaged as engineering design consultants and project managers.

Key Issues

Maintenance

Low maintenance of their marine structures is important to MAST and the design accordingly responded to this preference.

Durability

A high level of durability was achieved through the use of prestressed, precast concrete decks with galvanised reinforcing and concrete admixtures.

Materials

Recycled plastic was used for fenders and ladders manufactured from HDPE.

Steel piles were concrete encased.
